How to use vMix?

vMix has a user-friendly interface that consists of four main sections: Inputs, Preview, Output and Controls. Inputs are the sources that you can add to your production, such as cameras, videos, images, etc. Preview shows you what is currently selected as the next source to be shown on the output. Output shows you what is currently being streamed or recorded. Controls are the buttons that allow you to perform various actions such as switching inputs, adding effects, starting or stopping streaming or recording, etc.

To add an input to your production, you can click on the Add Input button at the bottom left corner of the interface. A window will pop up where you can choose from different types of inputs such as Camera, Video Call (for live interviews), Video List (for playlists), Web Browser (for web pages), etc. You can also browse your computer for files or folders that contain media files. Once you select an input type, you can adjust its settings such as name, resolution, audio source, etc. Then click OK to add it to your input list.

To switch between inputs on the output, you can simply click on the input that you want to show next on the preview window. Then click on the Cut or Transition button at the bottom right corner of the interface to switch it to the output. You can also use keyboard shortcuts or MIDI controllers to switch inputs faster.

To add effects to your inputs, you can click on the cog icon next to each input on the input list. A window will pop up where you can choose from different effects such as Colour Correction, Chroma Key (for green screen), Zoom (for cropping), Rotate (for vertical videos), etc. You can also add multiple effects to each input and adjust their parameters individually.

To add titles and overlays to your inputs, you can click on the GT button next to each input on the input list. A window will pop up where you can choose from different templates for titles and overlays such as Lower Thirds (for names and captions), Scoreboards (for sports), Tickers (for news), etc. You can also create your own custom titles and overlays using vMix GT Title Designer.

To add virtual sets to your inputs, you can click on the Set button next to each input on the input list. A window will pop up where you can choose from different virtual sets such as Studio (for news), Living Room (for talk shows), Classroom (for education), etc. You can also create your own custom virtual sets using vMix Virtual Set Editor.

To stream your production live to the internet, you need to click on the Stream button at the bottom right corner of the interface. A window will pop up where you can choose your streaming provider such as YouTube Live Events (for YouTube), Facebook Live (for Facebook), Twitch Channel (for Twitch), etc. You can also enter a custom URL and stream key if your provider is not listed. Then click Start to begin streaming.
